Also colloquially and endearingly referred to as “Cooking with COVID”…
2020 HSHA Recipe Book: “Cooking During COVID”
In 2020, the global COVID-19 pandemic left in its unprecedented wake many of our traditional neighborhood activities. In December—with the stay-at-home order still in full force and vaccines still hovering on the distant horizon—the HSHA Board reluctantly announced that they would not be hosting the annual Cookie Swap, Christmas Eve caroling on the Green, or strolling to neighbors’ kitchens to share soup and conversation.
Not to be entirely deterred, though, the HSHA came up with a brilliant plan for spreading the holiday spirit in that dark winter!
As the solstice drew nearer and the days grew shorter, a High Street Hill neighborhood Recipe Book was gradually compiled, replete with anecdotes and photos of favorite holiday culinary and craft projects. High Street Hill neighbors from near and far contributed their favorite appetizers, soups, desserts, and main dishes, along with favorite holiday craft ideas.
The assembled recipes are now offered as a PDF download!
We hope you all enjoy our neighbors’ recipes and share comments, responses, and photos on the High Street Hill Association Facebook page. If you don’t already follow us there, we encourage you to join us and, if you enjoy what you see, Like our page to show your support!
